Frequently Asked Questions

 “Can anyone learn to sing?”

Yes! I think some of us are born with the ability to be more musical than others. Maybe our parents were musical or our grandparents were musical. I think we never learned the art of listening and if you can hear it, you can sing it.

“Am I too old to learn?”

No. I have worked with children as young as 2 years old and adults in their 90’s. My client thought she would not be ale to sing again and with my gentle exercises, she was able to play piano and sing once more.

“How many voice lessons do I need?”

I recommend weekly for at least 3 months. The vocal chords are muscles and like going to the gym, over time, the muscles develop and get stronger.

“How much do vocal lessons cost in Los Angeles?”

Beginning Coaches may charge as low as $75 for the hour. Seasoned coaches with celebrity rosters charge as much as $1000 an hour.

“Do you teach complete beginners?”

Yes. I work patiently with each client. I know singing is a vulnerable sport so a trusting and safe environment are essential.

“What age should children start?”

Children are natural born singers and fearless. They are not aware of comparison or fear of sounding poorly.

My students have started at 5 years old.

“Can you help with auditions?”

Yes. The audition process can be intimidating so I work with the nervous system, breath work and imagination.

All my students have gotten the roles they wanted.

“Do you teach online?”

Yes. I have taught on Zoom from California to Finland.

“Can you help someone who is afraid to sing?”

Yes! Fear comes from the unknown. Fear comes from lack of trust. I never force anyone to sing. I establish relationship first.

“What's the difference between a voice teacher and vocal coach?”

I think they are the same thing. As my students excel, I turn my services into Coaching, much like a sports coach.

Overall, they are the same to me.
